Well Lights & In-Ground Lighting in Raleigh, NC

Flush-mount LED well lights installed directly into your pavers, driveway, patio, or pool deck for seamless, dramatic illumination from below the surface.

Light That Lives Beneath the Surface

Well lights are among the most visually striking outdoor lighting options available. Installed flush with the ground, they cast clean upward beams of light from within the surface itself, creating a dramatic glow that is impossible to achieve with any above-ground fixture.

Unlike traditional pathway or uplighting fixtures that sit on or above the ground, well lights are recessed entirely into the surface. When installed properly, the top of the fixture is completely level with the surrounding paver, concrete, or stone. During the day they are nearly invisible. At night they transform the surface into something extraordinary.

Summit Lighting NC installs in-ground well lights throughout Raleigh, Cary, and Apex in a wide variety of surface types including brick and concrete pavers, poured concrete, natural stone, asphalt, and composite decking. Every installation uses load-rated, fully waterproof housings engineered to withstand foot traffic, vehicle loads, and North Carolina’s full range of weather conditions.

Owners Santiago Peace and Josh Frankena assess each surface carefully before installation, selecting the correct fixture housing and core-drilling or cutting cleanly into the existing material. The result is a finished installation that looks intentional and built-in rather than added on as an afterthought.

Patio Well Lights

Well lights installed into patio pavers or concrete slabs cast upward light that adds depth and drama to your outdoor living space, illuminating seating areas, fire pits, and outdoor kitchens from the ground up without any above-surface hardware.

The Advantages of In-Ground Lighting Over Above-Surface Fixtures

Well lights offer a set of practical and aesthetic advantages that no above-ground fixture can match. Here is why Raleigh homeowners and commercial properties choose them for high-traffic outdoor surfaces.

Zero Trip Hazard

Because the fixture sits completely flush with the surrounding surface, there is nothing to catch a foot on, knock over, or damage with a lawn mower or snow blower. This makes well lights the safest lighting option for any surface where people walk regularly, especially steps, pool decks, and entrance paths.

Clean, Invisible Daytime Appearance

Above-ground fixtures are visible during the day whether you want them to be or not. Well lights are essentially invisible until illuminated. This lets your patio, driveway, or garden path maintain its clean, uninterrupted appearance from sunrise to sunset, with the dramatic lighting effect appearing only when it is actually needed.

Handles Traffic and Weather

Our in-ground housings are rated for both pedestrian and vehicle traffic and carry a minimum IP67 waterproof rating. They are designed to sit in the ground through years of North Carolina rain, heat, freezing temperatures, and daily use without degrading in performance or appearance.

Available in Color-Changing RGB

Well lights are available in single-color warm white, tunable white, and full RGB color-changing versions. Color-changing installations controlled by a remote or smart controller are especially popular for pool decks and outdoor entertainment areas where the ability to set the mood makes a real difference.

How We Install Well Lights

Surface Assessment

We evaluate the surface type, thickness, and subgrade conditions to select the correct fixture housing and installation method for a clean, long-lasting result.

Precision Cutting

We core-drill or saw-cut the exact opening needed for each fixture, keeping cuts clean and precise to minimize disruption to the surrounding material.

Housing Installation

The waterproof housing is set, leveled, and sealed into the opening so the top ring sits perfectly flush with the surrounding surface and all wiring is cleanly routed beneath.

Wiring & Connection

Low-voltage wiring is run beneath the surface to your transformer. We integrate the new fixtures into your existing system or install a new transformer and controller as needed.

Nighttime Verification

We return after dark to verify every fixture is aimed correctly, all connections are solid, and the finished lighting effect matches what was designed and agreed upon.
